Where to Buy Weed in Barcelona? A Friendly Club Guide
You can't buy weed in a shop in Barcelona. Instead, the city has dozens of private cannabis social clubs, so this guide explains, in plain words, how they work and how to find one on HiMap's free map.

Why there are no cannabis shops in Barcelona
Many visitors arrive expecting something like an Amsterdam coffeeshop or a North American dispensary. Barcelona doesn't work that way. Spain has no licensed shops that sell cannabis for recreational use, so there is no counter where you can walk in and buy weed, and the city's CBD shops are a different thing altogether.
What grew up instead is a model built around private use among adults: the cannabis social club. Barcelona has one of the largest club scenes in Europe, which is why so many people search for "where to buy weed in Barcelona". The honest answer is that you don't buy it in a shop. You find a club, and the club decides whether you can become a member.
Street sellers sometimes approach visitors in busy areas. HiMap can't help with that and doesn't recommend it. The club route is the one this guide explains.
How cannabis social clubs work
A cannabis social club (CSC) is a private, non-profit association. Adults join as members, and the club shares cannabis only among its members, on its own premises. It is closer to a members' lounge than a business open to the public.
Because every club is its own association, each one sets its own rules:
- who can join, and whether it accepts people who don't live in Barcelona
- the minimum age, usually 18 or 21
- which ID it asks to see
- whether a referral from an existing member is needed
- opening hours and house rules
Nothing here is guaranteed. A club that welcomed a friend last year may work differently today, so always ask the club itself.
Barcelona's neighbourhoods, in general
Clubs are spread across the city rather than grouped in one district, so it helps to know the main areas before you open the map. These notes are for orientation only and say nothing about any particular club.
Eixample
The big grid between Plaça de Catalunya and the Sagrada Família. Blocks are long and the metro is close everywhere, so check the exact cross-street on each listing.
El Raval
West of La Rambla, towards Sant Antoni. Streets are short and easy to mix up, so match the address to the nearest metro stop rather than guessing from the neighbourhood name.
Gràcia
Above Avinguda Diagonal, with small squares and a village feel. Listings here can be in residential buildings, so look for entrance details before you go.
Sants
Around Sants station, useful if you arrive by train. Compare walking times on the map before you plan a visit.
The Gothic Quarter, Poblenou and Barceloneta also have listings. Barcelona is bigger than it looks, so a pin in Sants is not a short stroll from the beach.
Etiquette and membership
Clubs are private spaces, and a little courtesy goes a long way. Contact the club before you visit, through its own website, Instagram or phone number, and ask how membership works and whether it is taking new members right now. Keep the message short and polite.
If the club invites you to continue, bring the ID it asks for and follow its instructions. Respect the neighbours: clubs sit in residential streets, so arrive and leave quietly and don't use cannabis outside. If a club says no, or doesn't reply, accept that and move on. Membership is always the club's choice, and HiMap has no role in it.
